Over the last couple of days, almost all of the discussions related to Telugu cinema have been surrounding the recent developments on Pushpa 2. After news broke out that Thaman is onboarded to compose a part of the BGM of Pushpa 2, there are several theories on the same.
Needless to say, DSP created a thematic vision for Pushpa world with this BGM for the first part. His audio album for the second part has also been released.
The musical setting created by DSP for Pushpa is peculiar and indigenous to him. At this point, Thaman, who is the exact opposite to DSP when it comes to musical tastes composing the BGM for Pushpa 2 is going to be interesting to watch.
For starters, the audience will only want a winning BGM. They don’t mind if it came from DSP or Thaman. If Thaman can match the musical setting of Pushpa 2 and add freshness to it, then better.
Else, if Thaman’s work goes out of bounds and creates an odd impression, particularly so with the audience already accustomed to DSP’s work, then this would be tricky. Then there’s another music director Ajaneesh who is also onboarded for the film.
The onus is now on Sukumar to make sure that all the non-DSP music directors who are working on Pushpa 2 operate within the setting created by DSP. There will obviously be room for development and variations. If executed well, this switch of musicians can open up new horizons for the film in terms of OST.
