Ahead of the release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, controversy has begun to stir on social media. A section of fans affiliated with the YSRCP party, along with some anti-fans, has called for a boycott of the film.
The backlash intensified after the pre-release event at Shilpakala Vedika, where Pawan Kalyan, the film’s lead star, made remarks about balancing his political duties and film commitments.
Pawan Kalyan is currently not just an actor but also the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, holding multiple ministerial portfolios.
During the event, he candidly mentioned that while fulfilling his official responsibilities, he dedicated two hours every morning to the film’s shoot on certain days.
These comments sparked trolling from political opponents and sections of YSRCP supporters, who claim that he is prioritizing movies over governance.
Responding to the boycott calls, Pawan Kalyan remained calm and straightforward. “Movies are not something that can be forcefully boycotted or made successful,” he said.
“If people like it, they will watch. If they don’t, they won’t. No one is putting a gun to their heads. It’s foolish to think that any film or star will be free from trolls or negativity. Let them do what they want—if boycotting this movie makes them happy, so be it. I have no problem.”
With Hari Hara Veera Mallu releasing on July 24 and premiere shows starting on July 23 night, Pawan Kalyan’s comments are being praised by his fans for their maturity.
Rather than retaliating, he chose to focus on the audience who genuinely wish to watch the film. The controversy, however, has only added to the buzz, making the film’s release even more closely watched.
