2019 YSRCP Mandate: Anti-TDP or Positive Vote for Jagan?

BJP has clarified its future course of action in Andhra Pradesh by appointing Somu Veerraju, a known hater of TDP as its President of the State Unit. Veerraju is going to all the TV studios and is venting all his anger on Chandrababu like there is no tomorrow.

He is not mincing words to say their target is Chandrababu Naidu and Telugu Desam Party. In the process, the party is going soft on the Ruling Government as criticism on Jagan may divert people’s attention back to Telugu Desam Party.

“BJP is hoping that TDP’s popularity with 23 seats in the recent elections is at its lowest. They wanted to further inforce the anti-TDP agenda so that people will get averse to Chandrababu Naidu and look for alternatives,” Political Observers see this strategy.

BJP believes that the huge mandate to Jagan is anti-Chandrababu mandate and not a positive vote for Jagan. That is the reason why it is hoping that pushing the anti-TDP agenda will help them. But then, 2014-19 can not be termed as a bad ruling by any yardstick. The slogan of ‘Okka Chance’ worked in Jagan’s favour. If he fails to leave upto the promise, people may prefer the better ruling of TDP once again. So, this strategy of focusing only on Chandrababu will take them nowhere,” they add.
