A major decongestion plan is set to reshape traffic movement in the western part of Hyderabad with a proposed third elevated corridor. The Telangana government has already approved two elevated corridors. These projects aim to reduce daily commuting delays and improve flow.
One corridor runs from Paradise Junction to Shamirpet ORR. The second stretches between Paradise Junction and Dairy Farm Road on NH 44. Now a new 9 kilometre elevated link is planned from ICICI Bank on Road No 12, Banjara Hills to the Shilpa Layout Flyover Road.
The corridor is designed to support Metro rail on the same pier system. It is expected to ease pressure at Filmnagar, Rd No 45, Jubilee Hills checkpost, Hitec city approach road and the wider IT corridor. Lower emissions and better mobility are key goals.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority will conduct a detailed feasibility study. This will cover structural alignment, land acquisition, environmental impact and traffic patterns. If cleared, construction will follow the DBFOT model.
HMDA will appoint legal, technical and financial consultants to prepare reports and bid documents. Studies will assess traffic demand, plan utility shifts and estimate costs. Field surveys will finalise alignment, bridge points and intersection layouts.
With Hyderabad facing congestion risks similar to Delhi and Bengaluru, action is gaining urgency. The administration is prioritising solutions to tackle traffic and pollution. The proposed corridor is expected to play a critical role in that strategy.
