The political scene in Tamil Nadu is taking interesting turns with the political entries of film stars. Recently, it was star hero Vijay who announced that his political party will contest in the 2026 assembly elections.
Now, it is the turn of another mainstream Tamil hero, Vishal to announce his political debut.
Incidentally, Vishal met with his supporter group named Vishal Makkal Nala Iyakkam and had a lengthy discussion about his political future. Shortly after, he announced that he will be active in Tamil Nadu politics henceforth.
Much like Vijay’s party, even Vishal’s new party will be operating in the 2026 assembly elections. Neither of the parties will contest in the coming Lok Sabha elections that are being held this year.
The likes of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had already announced their parties but they are nowhere to be seen in the political space. But Vijay and Vishal appear to be determined to have their say in the Tamil Nadu politics.
It has been a while since a film star could actually pull off a miracle in South Indian politics. Can Vijay or Vishal be the next big thing down South? We shall wait and watch.
