Alliance with Congress: A Risk Worth for Naidu?

Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s handshake to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the latter’s pat on the back to the Prime Minister Aspirant at HD Kumaraswamy’s Swearing-in ceremony is creating tremors in Andhra Pradesh Politics.

The Opposition is keen to grab this opportunity to showcase TDP as becoming a part of Congress which has aided the Bifurcation. As of now, TDP has no worthy partners in the coming elections after severing ties with Janasena and walking out of NDA.

There are speculations that Naidu is keen on the 1-2% vote share Congress commands in Andhra Pradesh which may become crucial in the upcoming elections as it is going to be a three way contest and the winning margins may be very less.

But the big question if the advantage Congress brings will be more than the votes TDP loses for allying with Congress. But a shrewd politician Naidu is keeping his cards close to the chest for the moment. As of now, even his supporters feel it is not a risk which is worth.
