Amaravati Airport Needs 5,000 Acres, Why Pool 20,000?

After the 66th CRDA Authority meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Ponguru Narayana explained the land requirement for the proposed Amaravati airport at a press meet.

The airport may need around 5,000 acres, but the total land pooling could go up to nearly 20,000 acres. This larger pool would cover roads, parks, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure, along with plots to be returned to farmers.

But 20,000 acres is a huge land-pooling exercise. Thousands of farmers and landowners could be involved, so clarity on the entire process will be important.

The bigger picture is that the airport is being planned as part of Amaravati’s wider development, rather than as a standalone project.

For farmers, the questions are straightforward. What will they get in return? Where will the returnable plots be located? And when will the promised infrastructure come up?

The next Cabinet decision could provide more clarity. But approval will only be the first step.

The real challenge will be getting farmers on board and turning this large land-pooling plan into visible development around Amaravati.
