Amaravati Phase 1: ₹11.4K Cr Approved

The government of Andhra Pradesh has already greenlit the works of the capital city, Amaravati, and received funds from the central government. Now, the Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) has approved the construction works worth Rs. 11,467 crores.

A meeting was held in CM Chandrababu Naidu’s residence last evening where CRDA approved 23 aspects of the capital city construction. Most of these works will be taken up using the funds given by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

In this initial phase, road works worth Rs. 2498 crores and reservoir works worth Rs. 1585 crores (Palavagu, Kondaveetivagu and Gravitation Canal) will be taken up.

Rs. 3525 crores are allocated for All India Services, Gezetted, Non-Gazetted and Class 4 buildings will be constructed. Rs. 3859.66 crores will be used for developing layouts spanning over 8496.30 acres, which were allocated for farmers who lent their lands to the capital city. All basic amenities and modern facilities will be provided in these layouts. Before 2019, Rs. 3306 crores were allocated for the development of these layouts. Now, the amount has been increased to Rs. 3859.6 crores.

Tenders given prior to 2019 have been revoked and invitations have been sent for the new tenders. These new tenders have also been invited for the prestigious Happy Nest project which is being constructed in Amaravati city. The government will bear a loss of Rs. 984.10 crore which occurred due to the delay in the project construction.

The government has set deadlines for the construction of each building in the city and strict orders were passed to all departments to adhere to those deadlines.
