It has been close to one and a half years since the new government took charge in Andhra Pradesh. The verdict delivered by the people shocked the entire nation. The fall of YSR Congress from 151 seats to just eleven remains one of the biggest upsets in Telugu political history.
Despite this, Ambati Rambabu and other YSR Congress leaders appear unwilling to accept the reality. Speaking recently, Ambati Rambabu claimed that people are now regretting defeating Jagan and insisted that Jagan will return to power in 2029.
He further stated that even alliance leaders do not understand the 2024 verdict. According to him, the public feels deceived by Chandrababu Naidu’s promises. Such statements reflect continued confusion within the opposition camp.
For any political party, understanding the reasons behind a defeat is crucial. Without honest introspection, correcting mistakes becomes impossible. YSR Congress failed largely due to arrogance and its inability to read public aspirations.
Jagan remained disconnected from the people and confined himself to Tadepalli Palace. Roads were reportedly covered with curtains, creating distance from citizens. Those five years were marked by suppression of opponents and widespread public resentment.
The government also focused heavily on freebies while ignoring infrastructure, investments, and job creation. The 2024 verdict clearly showed that voters cannot be swayed by handouts alone. This defeat should serve as a clear lesson for YSR Congress.
If leaders like Ambati Rambabu continue to deny the people’s mandate, the party risks further decline. Blaming others instead of accepting reality only deepens the crisis within YSR Congress.
