AP To Get Two High Speed Rail Corridors

Good news for people in Andhra Pradesh South Central Railways (SCR) has announced plans for a new high-speed rail corridor in the state.

SCR has designed route maps for two elevated high-speed corridors that will mostly run through Andhra Pradesh. These lines are being built to support trains running at 350 km per hour.

The Hyderabad-Bengaluru corridor will stretch 605 km, and the Hyderabad-Chennai corridor will cover 760 km. Together, both lines will span 1,365 km, with 767 km running through Andhra Pradesh.

SCR has estimated a total cost of ₹5.2 lakh crore for both projects ₹2.38 lakh crore for the Hyderabad-Bengaluru line and ₹3.04 lakh crore for the Hyderabad-Chennai line. In Andhra Pradesh, work is set to begin first.

The Hyderabad-Bengaluru corridor will cover 263 km in the state, passing through Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, and Sri Satya Sai districts, with six new stations planned. SCR has already written to the state government seeking land for the project.

The Hyderabad-Chennai corridor will pass through seven districts Palnadu, Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, and Chittoor. Authorities are also considering adding Amaravati, the state capital, to this route.
