NDA prepares for AP local body polls

Andhra Pradesh is slowly preparing for another round of elections with the upcoming local body polls. The NDA alliance partners are already focusing on coordination, seat sharing and their respective strengths ahead of the elections.
 
The coordination between the NDA partners has so far remained positive at the leadership level. Janasena has been stressing the importance of focusing on winnable seats instead of simply seeking a larger share of the total seats.
 
This approach has been repeatedly emphasised by Janasena leaders, including Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh. The same message is also being taken to the party cadre at the grassroots level.
 
IT Minister Nara Lokesh has also maintained that the NDA partners are working with mutual understanding for the local body elections. The emphasis from the alliance leadership has been on maintaining coordination instead of allowing seat-sharing discussions to create differences.
 
At the organisational level, the Telugu Desam Party has a strong presence across several parts of Andhra Pradesh. Given its local organisational strength, the TDP is naturally expected to seek a larger share of the seats in the local elections.
 
For the alliance, the bigger challenge will be avoiding a prolonged tussle over seat sharing. TDP and Janasena leaders have been stressing that the stability of the alliance is more important than simply increasing the number of seats contested.
 
However, this understanding at the leadership level will have to translate into effective coordination on the ground. Candidate selection, seat sharing and cooperation among the cadres will be important as the NDA partners prepare for the local body elections.
 
Ultimately, the focus for the alliance will be on converting its organisational strength into electoral performance. How effectively the TDP, Janasena and BJP coordinate at the grassroots level will be an important part of their preparations for the upcoming local polls.
