JanaSena Seeks 30% Seats, 9 ZP Chairperson Posts in TDP Alliance Talks

The TDP-JanaSena-BJP alliance is yet to finalise seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming ZPTC and MPTC elections in Andhra Pradesh. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has reportedly sought 30% of the seats for JanaSena, along with nine Zilla Parishad chairperson positions.

Pawan Kalyan held discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the second consecutive day on Friday, October 23. The meeting lasted around half an hour, with both leaders discussing competing claims from alliance partners across several constituencies.

According to reports, Pawan initially proposed allocating 30% of the ZPTC and MPTC seats to JanaSena. Chandrababu reportedly asked him to reconsider the demand, citing competition from TDP aspirants in several constituencies.

The differences between the two parties are understood to have narrowed during the second round of discussions. However, no final agreement has been announced on JanaSena ‘s share.

JanaSena is also reportedly seeking nine Zilla Parishad chairperson posts. Chandrababu is understood to have explained that several TDP leaders are interested in these positions, making further negotiations necessary. The demand for nine posts has not been officially confirmed.

Pawan Kalyan reportedly proposed allotting the Alluri Sitharama Raju district ZP chairperson position to JanaSena. According to the supplied account, Chandrababu agreed to the proposal, although there has been no formal announcement confirming the allocation.

Meanwhile, the BJP could receive around 5% of the rural local body seats. Discussions reportedly include allocating approximately 30 ZPTC seats, 30 Mandal Parishad president posts and more than 100 MPTC seats to the party. These figures remain proposals rather than final allocations.

Chandrababu also held separate discussions with Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav on Friday regarding the party’s share in the elections.

The immediate focus remains on finalising ZPTC and MPTC constituencies where each alliance partner will contest. ZP chairpersons and Mandal Parishad presidents are elected indirectly by the elected members, making those leadership positions a separate part of the negotiations.

With several TDP, JanaSena and BJP aspirants already filing nominations in the same constituencies, the alliance leadership is seeking to avoid competing candidates from within the coalition. Local coordination committees are expected to play a role in resolving disagreements.

Nominations closed on October 23, while scrutiny is scheduled for October 24. The official withdrawal deadline is October 27, when the final candidate list is also scheduled to be published. Polling is planned for November 3, followed by counting on November 5.

For now, JanaSena ‘s reported 30% demand, the proposed BJP allocation and the distribution of ZP chairperson positions remain under discussion. A final seat-sharing agreement is awaited.
