The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has announced the schedule for MPTC and ZPTC elections, with polling set for November 3.
Candidates can file their nominations until October 23. Those contesting Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats must submit their papers at the respective mandal headquarters, while nominations for Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats will be accepted at Zilla Parishad offices. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 24, followed by the withdrawal deadline on October 27. Votes will be counted on November 5, when the results are also expected to be announced.
Election Commission Introduces New Management System
The State Election Commission has introduced an Election Management System (EMS) to make the election process more systematic and technology-driven, which will provide voter lists, details of MPTC seats in each mandal and information about election procedures.
Gram Panchayat Elections in Three Phases
Meanwhile, Gram Panchayat elections will be held in three phases on November 26, November 29 and December 2.
For the first phase, the notification will be issued on November 13. Nominations must be filed by November 17, with withdrawals allowed until November 21. The second phase notification is scheduled for November 16. Candidates can submit nominations until November 20 and withdraw by November 24. For the third phase, the notification will be released on November 19. The nomination deadline is November 23, while candidates can withdraw until November 27.
Unlike the MPTC and ZPTC elections, where counting will take place two days after polling, Gram Panchayat votes will be counted on the same day as voting in each phase. With these schedules in place, Andhra Pradesh is set for a series of local body elections extending into the first week of December.
