Andhra Pradesh is on a growth spree. But one thing that could stall such development are unexpected climate calamities. At the time of Montha cyclone, CM Chandrababu showed how real-time governance and use of technology could help governments handle the problem and minimize loss to people and property.
In what comes as good news to the state, the central government has announced extra packages for states affected by Montha and other similar problems. The package will be extended to six states.
The high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced aid to six states including AP, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir. A total aid of Rs 1929.99 crore has been announced by the Home Minister. Andhra Pradesh will be getting Rs 341.48 crore as additional grant in its share.
Due to climate change across the globe, flash floods in hilly areas, river floodings have increased. The threat is more during the monsoon season. With Andhra Pradesh having a long coastline, cyclones in Bay of Bengal are a huge threat to inland. Center’s aid is being welcomed by the citizens of AP.
