Three Capitals: High Court Closed Doors For New Bills?

Andhra Pradesh Government has given a key ruling on Amaravati saying that all the works as per the Master Plan should be completed in Six months time. Meanwhile, YSR Congress is trying to give a new twist to the judgment saying that it is an expected outcome because the government has withdrawn the bills pertaining to the three capitals.

But then, the High Court has made some key comments about it as well. “The State Assembly has no powers to make acts on the Capital. When the assembly has no power, there is no way it can repeal the CRDA act. No government office can be shifted from Amaravati,” the Court said.

This ruling may rule out any possibility of bringing new bills to implement three capitals. If the Government tries to bring, it may be a contempt of Court. In such a case, the government may first approach Supreme Court to prove that the state assembly actually has such powers.

That will only means more delay and mind you, Jagan Mohan Reddy has only two years left in his tenure. So, this judgment complicates the concept of three capitals further.
