Suspension of IPS Officer in Agri Gold Scam Extended

The AP government has extended the suspension of IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar till February 24, 2026. He has been under suspension for making multiple foreign trips without official permission. As the earlier suspension period was about to end, the review committee extended it.

The ACB is investigating Sunil Kumar’s role in the Agri Gold scam. Meanwhile, Guntur Nagarapalem police are probing his alleged involvement in the torture case of ex-MP and present Deputy Speaker Raghurama Raju during the previous government.

The review committee observed that Sunil Kumar might tamper with evidence and influence witnesses if his suspension is revoked. Hence, the panel recommended an extension as the cases are still under investigation.

The committee asked the DGP to take further action. Based on this recommendation, the suspension of PV Sunil Kumar has been officially extended.

For context, PV Sunil Kumar earlier served as Director General of Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response and Fire Services during Jagan’s government.
