Andhra Pradesh witnessed one of the worst liquor scams in all of India before 2024, and this case has been investigation for the last couple of years.
There was a lot of progress with regard to identification of culprit and tracking the financial transactions in the earlier stages, but the case slowed down significantly in the last few months.
Now this matter has reached the Supreme Court and the apex judicial body had a verbal order on this matter. The Supreme Court made it very clear that the working mechanism of the special investigation team associated with this investigation needs to amplify the operation.
The SC pointed out that they would first calibrate the investigative procedures of the SIT before working on the orders issued by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
This is a very sharp and vocal reaction from the Supreme Court and easily warrant significant progress on the procedure as a whole.
The SIT and the Andhra Pradesh Police department had already arrested a couple of individuals, namely Raj Kasireddy in this case and they’re in remand. But the pace of the investigation and questioning has dropped significantly. This reprimand from the Supreme Court could show a lot of difference now.
