AP Stops Power to Telangana

AP Genco will be stopping the Power Supply to Telangana from today after the arrears have reached 4449 Crore and the latter is in no mood to clear them. According to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 53.89% of Power Produced in AP will go to Telangana.

On the other side, AP Genco owes 1437 Crore to Singareni Collieries for the Coal Supply and the latter already stopped the coal supply until the dues are cleared. AP Discoms are urging to pay for the AP Power adjusting the dues of Singareni.

Telangana Genco, however, is in no mood to rush into the repayments. It is of the opinion to go for outside purchases in case AP Power is stopped. In such case, AP Genco is likely to approach the Center or take the legal route to solve the issue which has become a huge burden to the already debt-ridden discoms of the state.
