Nandamuri Balakrishna, MLA of Hindupur, has once again won hearts by donating ₹42 lakh from his personal funds for the Lepakshi gurukula vidyapeeth BC hostel. The donation will be used for repair work, beautification, and improvements in hostel washrooms and living areas. This hostel is close to Balakrishna’s heart, as it was founded by his late father, N.T. Rama Rao.
This is not the first time Balakrishna has spent his own money for public welfare in Hindupur. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he contributed ₹3.5 crore from his personal funds to provide essential supplies and medical equipment for residents of the constituency. His commitment to Hindupur has remained constant throughout his term from 2019 to 2024.
In addition to COVID relief, Balakrishna also funded ₹6 crore towards NTR Aarogya Ratham, a free mobile medical service that continues to serve people in remote areas. He also launched a ₹2 meal scheme called Anna Bhojanasala (Anna canteen), offering affordable food for the underprivileged.
While working to bring government funds into Hindupur, Balakrishna has quietly continued to spend personal money on meaningful welfare projects. His latest contribution to the Lepakshi BC hostel reflects not just charity, but a deep-rooted legacy of service.
