Big Challenge Awaits Naidu Ahead of MLC Elections

Andhra Pradesh is going to have elections for 7 MLC seats very soon. By the strength of the parties, TDP should win Five seats easily and YSR Congress will take home two unless the defections defeat the opposition. On the other side, there is a huge list of contenders for the MLC tickets in TDP.

In the last elections, TDP could not give tickets to Brahmin, Muslims, and STs. Chandrababu Naidu had announced that they will accommodate them as MLCs. But only one Muslim from West Godavari could get an MLC seat. Now, it has to be seen if the remaining castes will get representation in the upcoming MLC tickets.

On the other side, BJP is hoping for one or two tickets from these Seven as Coalition Dharma. Several state leaders are already busy pursuing the issue with BJP Central leaders. But then since the Cabinet rejig is round the corner, there is a huge demand for MLC tickets within TDP itself.

So, it has to be seen if Naidu will be keen on giving any chance to BJP State leader who will be of no use to him. Naidu will begin the exercise of finalizing the candidates early next month. It has to be seen how Naidu balances all the equations and come up with the right list.
