BJP on a downslide in Gujarat too!

The results of Local body elections in Gujarat had sent a massive jolt to BJP. The saffron Party under Narendra Modi was just unstoppable in Gujarat for about two decades, but is now losing ground there especially in the rural areas of the state.

According to the latest trends, Congress is likely to capture around 20 of the 31 district panchayats. Congress already won Rajkot, Morbi, Botad, Anand and Gandhinagar District panchayats. Except for Gandhinagar, all these district panchayats were held by the BJP.

Only solace for BJP is retaining all the six municipal corporations: Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Surat. But the reduced majority will still over the BJP camp. Congress is also leading in semi-urban municipalities. Ahead of Assembly elections in December 2017, this result will definitely worry BJP especially after the back to back defeats in Delhi and Bihar.
