BJP Successfully Put Special Status Bill in Dustbin

BJP had successfully managed to avert the embarassment of Special Status Private Member Bill voting. Leader of the house in Rajya Sabha and Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley after ruckus demanding the voting, announced that the bill can not be taken up in Rajya Sabha as it is a Finance Bill.

Finance Bills can be only taken up in Lok Sabha. Incidentally, BJP remembers this technicality about an year after the bill was first put up by KVP Rama Chandra Rao on 31st July 2015. Home Minister then forwarded it to President of India and it was ratified by Pranad Mukherjee on August 7th that year and sent it to Rajya Sabha as Serial No. 20.

The Bill came up to discussion in Rainy Season session of Parliament. Several hours of Rajya Sabha got wasted due to this bill but government only told about it now. With this kind of escaping acts, BJP is only establishing itself as anti-Andhra Party which will only do more harm than good to the party going forward.
