To facilitate the service, new buses are being readied at bus depots. Lots of rush is expected in the first 3 months and APSRTC is gearing up to meet the challenge.
Some school buses have also been taken to accommodate women travelling free across the state. The current fleet is also being upgraded and readied to keep up with new demand.
Palle Velugu, ultra palle velugu, express, city ordinary and metro express – these five categories of buses are being readied. New trip plans are being chalked out and buses in high demand areas will be making more trips.
There is expected to be an increase of 40-50,000 women commuters. Also, if a woman boards a bus with family, she will be given Rs 0 ticket.
