It’s a huge step forward for the metros in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to call for tenders on Friday, July 25.
Tenders will be called for 40% of the amount in the first phase. The entire project for 2 cities will cost Rs 21,616 crore.
For Vizag, tender for Rs 11,498 crore will be called. For Vijayawada, Rs 10,118 crore tender will be called. The metros will be built in 50-50 center, state partnership.
The state will give Rs 4101 crore through VMRDA for Vizag Metro. For the Vijayawada Metro, Rs 3497 crore will be given through CRDA.
Vizag first phase will have three corridors. One from Steel Plant Gate to Kommadi Junction, second from Guridwara to Old Post Office junction and third one between Thatichetlapalem to China Waltair. They will have 29, 6 and 7 stations.
Vijayawada Metro mail will ply between Gannavaram to Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS). The second corridor is between PNBS to Penamaluru. The number of stations are 34.
