A case has been registered against senior YSR Congress Party leader Perni Nani following a confrontation with officials during a demolition drive in Machilipatnam.
According to reports, authorities carried out demolition of an allegedly unauthorized house in the Kobbari Thota area on Thursday. The structure, said to belong to an individual named Sripati Venkatachalam, was removed after officials found that it did not have the required permissions.
Soon after the demolition, Perni Nani reached the spot along with his supporters and confronted the officials present there. During the exchange, he is alleged to have verbally abused and threatened both government officials and police personnel, leading to tension at the site.
Following the incident, the police officers’ association filed a complaint at Chilakalapudi Police Station. Based on this complaint, a case has been registered against Perni Nani.
The episode once again brings focus on the growing friction between political leaders and enforcement authorities at the ground level. Actions like demolitions, especially involving local residents, often turn into flashpoints when political intervention enters the scene.
For now, the case marks a legal turn in what began as a local administrative action. The next course of the issue will depend on how the investigation progresses and whether the confrontation escalates further in the political arena.
