CBN Launches Major AP Housing Push
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched construction works for 3 lakh houses under PMAY-Gramin 2.0 at Burripalem in Guntur district.
They also launched a pilot project to build 3D concrete-printed houses in Burripalem and Obulnaidupalem. The project is being taken up with the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI).
Of the 3 lakh houses sanctioned under PMAY-Gramin 2.0, 75,000 had already received approval, while another 2.25 lakh houses have now been sanctioned.
Chandrababu said the government wants every poor family to have a house and aims to complete the housing programme by 2029.
He said 3D printing technology could reduce construction time considerably. A house that normally takes around two years could potentially be built in about three months. The pilot project will initially cover 117 houses.
Chandrababu also criticised the previous government over the location and construction of houses under its housing programme.
Referring to Burripalem’s connection with actor Krishna, Chandrababu called Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar another “hero” of the region for his development efforts.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Chandrababu’s focus on technology and development, saying Andhra Pradesh is taking a new step in affordable housing.
