CBN, Pawan Take Water Mission to Kadapa
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are set to launch Jal Jeevan Mission works in Proddatur, Kadapa.
The state is preparing to take up works reportedly worth around ₹30,000 crore under the mission. The focus is on improving drinking water supply and taking tap connections to more rural households.
The location has political significance as Kadapa is the home district of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TDP, Jana Sena and BJP coalition government is taking a major drinking water programme into an area long associated with the YSRCP.
But the bigger focus is development. For rural families, reliable drinking water is a basic need that directly affects everyday life.
Andhra Pradesh is also part of the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, which focuses on household tap connections, sustainable water supply, water conservation and community participation.
Pawan Kalyan’s role is also important as he handles the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development portfolios. The programme gives the government an opportunity to take the water mission directly to villages.
For the coalition government, the message is simple: Jagan’s home district is also a development priority.
The focus now is on taking the programme forward and ensuring reliable drinking water reaches more families.
The biggest success of the programme will be seeing clean drinking water reach people’s homes.
