Center Planning to Make Hyderabad A Union Territory?

We do not know if it is just a political statement or if there is specified information, Hyderabad MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has alleged that the Central Government is planning to make cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru as Union Territories.

“Jammu and Kashmir is just the first of many. Very soon, the center will demote several cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru as Union Territories,” Asaduddin Owaisi said in the Parliament during the discussion on J&K Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill.

We used to hear a demand of making Hyderabad a Union Territory from some Seemandhra leaders during the bifurcation times and later it has got disappeared. “You never know. We have heard BJP leaders comparing Hyderabad to Pakistan. BJP President Bandi Sanjay even hinted about a surgical strike on Old City. You never know what BJP will do,” some people on social media say.

It may not be that easy. Jammu and Kashmir is a unique issue that will unite the people across the country but it will not be the case in any other state in the country.
