Center’s Shrewd Plan to Decrease Polavaram Burden

Polavaram Project is now costing 58391 Crores and out of this, a whopping 33858 Crore is only towards the Relief and Rehabilitation Works. Earlier this is just 2934.42 Crores and with 2013 Land Acquisition Act, it has gone up to this big.

A Committee appointed by the Center recently toured Polavaram Submerging villages and made some suggestions to decrease the quantum of expenditure towards the Relief and Rehabilitation Works which will ease the cost of the project.

They advised the government to link the construction of houses, roads, and canals to those departments of the state government and various schemes of the state and central governments. In a way, the committee has indirectly told the government not to seek funds from the center and try for funds from its own resources.
