Chandrababu Challenges His Long-Time Rival

Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy have studied together but were political rivals. He contested against Naidu in college elections in the early seventies and had gotten the better of Naidu. Naidu has become a big name in Telugu politics but Peddireddy rose only to the level of a Minister.

They do not see eye to eye for many years. Peddireddy is targeting TDP in Chittoor district and Chandrababu Naidu’s own constituency Kuppam ever since YSR Congress came to power. He has had some successes in the local elections as well. Naidu finally seems to have risen to the challenge.

The Former Chief Minister who is touring Kuppam owed to defeat Peddireddy this time. “I will see how he will win the election this time,” Naidu announced. Peddireddy has been winning the Punganur constituency since 2009. He represented Pileru constituency three times before that. He is a contractor and is into the mining business.

As a result, he has been a cash bag and a strongman in the district. Naidu recently appointed a new incharge for Punganur and TDP sources says he is being very active in the constituency and Peddireddy is already feeling the heat.
