Naidu’s Free Meal to Defuse Youth of AP

Nothing comes Free, they say. But when politics runs on freebies, there is no price for anything except for votes. TDP has promised Unemployed Youth Pension before 2014 elections. While Opposition is criticizing the ruling party for that, Naidu has decided to implement it even when things are very difficult for the Cash-strapped state.

TDP Polit Bureau the other day has decided to earmark funds for this scheme in the upcoming budget and use the pension getting youth for various social programs. But then, there is an argument that paying pension to the most production class of the society will only defuse them and prompt them to sit idle and enjoy the free money government is offering.

This scheme may help Naidu and TDP politically but will do no good to the finances of the state or the future of the youth. Instead, the government should have made use of this money to create more employment opportunities or funding the unemployed to set up some small scale businesses.

Ahead of the 2019 elections, TDP is keen to execute the promise somehow while YSR Congress had started demanding to pay the arrears of the last three years as well. Vote Bank Politics will pull back the state which is already struggling. Time for the parties to realize or people to help them to realize by rejecting such perks.
