Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu had been extensively campaigning for a positive population index as he recently announced an assistance of ₹30,000 for third child and ₹40,000 for fourth child.
This public statement from the chief minister immediately backfired as social media reacted harshly to the same. There were several comments on India being the most populous country in the world already, and there is no need for additional population index.
The larger section of the public consensus was such that Indian authorities must first focus on better education, healthcare, and roads before pushing for additional population.
Interestingly enough, this negative feedback has reached Chandrababu Naidu as acknowledged by himself in a public meeting today, but he still doubled down on the population growth aspect.
“I understand that a few people are targeting me for my push for population growth. But everyone needs to keep in mind that our children are our resources, and we need to enhance the number. Or else, I might end up working for machines and tools instead of humans.” Chandrababu said.
Considering the insane growth rate of India, despite being the most populous country, it should be a while before population decline becomes a real problem. It is certainly not an immediate problem. This was exactly what was put out by the social media folk in reaction to Babu earlier.
But still, Babu is fighting for his original idea which might have honest and novel intentions but isn’t sitting well with the urbane population for the time being. There’s a common talk that the CM must rather go easy on this campaign for the time being.
