Andhra Pradesh is one of the biggest exporters of mango fruits, and this annual procedure is closely followed by the farming community here. However, for the last few years that have been complaints about the minimum guarantee price of Mangos.
A similar scenario came up again this year with mango farmers complaining that the existing prices for Mangos is not sustainable and asked for the intervention of the government.
The matter has quickly reached chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and he got on the job almost immediately.
The local government functionaries have gotten o the ground and we are starting to see secretariat employees at the mango fulfilment stations across the state. A detailed financial plan has been put in motion for the same.
For instance, we have ₹4 or ₹5, which is being circulated as the price for 1 kg of Bengaluru variety that is procured from the farmers by the pulp factories. This is not a favourable pricing model for the farming community.
So Chandrababu acted quickly and assured farmers that the government will provide another ₹4 per kilo which nearly doubles the outcome. This is a very positive enforcement by the government and could very well appease the farmers.
We are already witnessing a positive action at the ground as secretariat workers collect the bank details from farmers so that the funds would be credited directly from the government later. This swift action by Chandrababu must soon be completed with the government directly depositing funds in the bank accounts.
