TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Telangana TDP leaders on Tuesday evening to discuss the party’s strategy in the state.
After detailed discussions, the party decided not to contest the Jubilee Hills bypoll, citing that the local cadre was not yet ready. Chandrababu also made it clear that TDP will not support any party in the by-election.
The meeting, held at Chandrababu’s camp office, focused on reorganising the party in Telangana. Leaders discussed appointing a new Telangana TDP president and forming state and district committees.
Telangana leaders informed Chandrababu that the party currently has 1.78 lakh members in the state. They said forming committees at the panchayat, mandal, and zilla levels would help strengthen grassroots participation and expand membership.
The leaders urged Chandrababu to announce district presidents soon. They also requested that, if there is a delay in appointing a party president, the state committee be formed immediately to maintain momentum.
After hearing their suggestions, Chandrababu approved the plan to go ahead with committee formations. However, he emphasised that the Telangana TDP president will be someone responsible, active, and capable of reviving the party in the state.
