Three states help restore AP power lines
Andhra Pradesh faced back-to-back cyclones, Arnab and Murasu, leaving several parts of the state struggling with widespread power disruptions. Strong winds brought down thousands of electricity poles and severely damaged the power distribution network. With restoration work on a massive scale, the state had to seek support from neighbouring states to bring electricity supply back to normal.
Responding to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu‘s request, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana sent more than 3,000 electricity department personnel to Andhra Pradesh. The teams worked round the clock in cyclone-hit districts over the past few days. Their experience and coordinated efforts played a major role in restoring power to thousands of households.
The state government made arrangements for their accommodation, food and other essential facilities to ensure that restoration work continued without interruption.
Electricity Minister Gottipati Ravi visited the teams working at Nidamanuru in Santanutalapadu mandal of Prakasam district. He interacted with the personnel and enquired about their welfare and the progress of restoration work. He also met Karnataka’s electricity staff from Ballari who were working to reinstall damaged poles at Alavalapadu. The minister spoke with the Tamil Nadu teams stationed at Nidamanuru as well.
According to the latest restoration updates, power supply was fully restored in cyclone-affected areas of the Godavari districts by Thursday evening. Restoration work in Prakasam and Guntur districts had also reached nearly 70 per cent. The remaining work was expected to be completed by Saturday with the department aiming for 100 per cent restoration.
Minister Gottipati Ravi instructed officials to provide quality food and proper accommodation to the teams arriving from neighbouring states. He stressed that the personnel should not face any inconvenience while carrying out the challenging restoration work.
The minister said Chandrababu Naidu personally spoke to the Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana to secure their support. He expressed gratitude to the three Chief Ministers, their electricity ministers and the field staff for standing by Andhra Pradesh during this difficult time.
The large-scale restoration effort has highlighted the importance of coordination between states during natural disasters. The support from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana has helped Andhra Pradesh accelerate its recovery and bring electricity back to thousands of affected families.
