Cyclone Murasu: Chandrababu Conducts Aerial Survey of Crop Damage

Chandrababu conducts aerial survey of Murasu damage

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu undertook an aerial survey of Cyclone Murasu-affected areas on Wednesday, November 4, to assess the damage caused by heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The Chief Minister inspected cyclone-affected areas in Guntur, Prakasam and Bapatla districts, where agricultural fields and low-lying areas have been affected by the recent rains.

His survey covered Chilakaluripet, Ongole, Kothapatnam, Chinaganjam, Chirala and Bapatla. The primary focus was on assessing crop damage and understanding the extent of flooding in the affected regions.

Due to unfavourable weather conditions, the helicopter could not land at several locations. Chandrababu therefore opted for an aerial inspection instead of visiting the affected agricultural fields on the ground.

Cyclone Murasu, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast near Ongole on November 3, brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to several coastal districts. Standing crops, roads and other infrastructure were affected.

Following the aerial survey, Chandrababu was scheduled to return to the Secretariat in Amaravati and conduct a review meeting with senior officials through the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS).

The review was expected to focus on the extent of agricultural losses, flooding, infrastructure damage and ongoing relief operations in cyclone-hit districts.

The state government has already initiated relief measures in affected areas, while officials continue to assess damage to agricultural land and public infrastructure.

The aerial survey is part of the Chief Minister’s efforts to assess the impact of Cyclone Murasu and coordinate recovery measures across the affected districts.
