Charge-sheets for not paying Traffic Challans!

Hyderabad Traffic Police are all set to issue stringent rules on Traffic violators who have been not paying their pending challans for several years. It is said that about 40 Lakh Challans are pending in the last four years and the Police have been recovering them only when they are caught red handed doing another traffic offence.

If these 40 Lakh challans are paid, it will be 50 Crores addition income to Government treasury. Now the police are planning to open a charge-sheet on the vehicle owners which have five or more challans pending. However there are several logistic reasons too behind these pending challans. In most cases, these challans are not being sent to the addresses of vehicles.

Some of the challans even if sent are going to the addresses which the vehicles owners are not residing now. So the challans will be known to them only when they check online. So people those who are not aware of internet or the knowledge about challan site, they will never know about the challans pending. Hyderabad Police Commissionerate is very soon planning a drive to educate people and recover old challans.
