Vijayasai Reddy resigned as Rajya Sabha MP and his resignation has been accepted almost immediately. The Parliament also issued a Bulletin about the same.
Sai Reddy has around Three and a Half Years Term left. This seat will go to the TDP going by the numbers.
There are Rumors that the BJP has engineered this defection and so it will take this seat. There is a huge buzz that BJP will nominate Megastar Chiranjeevi in this seat.
But then, it does not look as easy as it appears. BJP just got a Rajya Sabha seat in the alliance and gave it to R Krishnaiah.
It was a Janasena seat and Chandrababu Naidu had to promise a Cabinet Berth to Nagababu to compensate that. So ideally both the allies are accomodated and the seat should go to the TDP.
Even if it is for the allies, Janasena which has no representation in the Upper House should be given first preference. Also it is the major partner in the alliance than the BJP.
Fielding Chiranjeevi from BJP or Janasena is again complicated because Nagababu, a family member of Pawan Kalyan was just promised a cabinet berth.
Nagababu‘s announcement already evoked the criticism of Nepotism and Caste Imbalance in Janasena. If Chiranjeevi is also given a Rajya Sabha Seat, it will make things worse.
Even though Janasena and BJP are allies now. Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi in two different parties will be ugly in the Long Term. Also, we do not know if the Megastar is ready for a Political Second Innings after those dreaded memories in the previous stint.
As of now, Chiranjeevi getting the Rajya Sabha MP Seat looks improbable.
