Congress Loses Lone Cabinet Rank Post in AP

The leader of Opposition in Council is the lone Cabinet Rank Post held by Congress in Andhra Pradesh after the historical debacle in 2014 elections. C.Ramachandraiah holds the post until now as Congress had the majority in Council even after 2014.

But then, Ramachandraiah and many other Congress MLCs retired last month. YSR Congress which has eight members in the Council is likely to get it. Out of the eight, one MLC joined TDP already. YSR Congress say they just need five members to get the LOP.

Jagan is planning to appoint Senior Leader Ummareddy Venkateswarulu to the post. Back then, Political circles are abuzz that Ummareddy was to quit YSR Congress after 2014 debacle but Jagan stopped him offering this LOP post.
