According to government sources, Amaravati construction work will begin on March 15. Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) have called tenders for 62 works already.
Tenders are underway for projects worth Rs 40,000 crore. CRDA tenders for 11 other projects will be called for soon. Due to election code, the tenders haven’t been finalized.
About 30,000 workers will be brought in to start construction work from April, to restart the capital development project.
Construction of the capital city has been a top priority for the alliance government. Chief Minister Chandrababu along with Minister Narayana toured the area and carried an inspection of projects under development.
Chennai IIT and Hyderabad IIT have studied the structural integrity of the main buildings and have given a go-ahead. They said there were no structural damages to iconic buildings, the Secretariat and Assembly.
Tenders have been submitted for basic infrastructure facilities like roads, drains and drinking water. The CRDA is in the process of releasing other bids for major works which include a hi-rise assembly building in 103 acres, a 47-storey CM’s office, a new High Court building and a roads of length 579 km.
Residential quarters for ministers, legislators and IAS officers which are nearing completion will be completed soon, making them the first constructions to be completed in the capital region.
