A serious disruption occurred during virtual proceedings at the Delhi High Court when an unidentified participant allegedly shared obscene content during an ongoing hearing.
The incident took place during a session before the Chief Justice’s bench. An unknown user who had joined the video conference managed to share their screen and display inappropriate content, forcing authorities to immediately shut down the session.
After a brief pause, the hearing resumed. However, the same disruption reportedly occurred again, leading to the VC being shut down a second time.
The repeated incident has raised serious concerns over the security of virtual court hearings. Questions are now being raised about how an unauthorized participant gained access and how screen-sharing was not controlled.
The episode highlights broader issues with virtual court systems. Open or weakly secured links can allow unknown users to enter proceedings, while unrestricted screen-sharing features can be misused.
While virtual hearings have improved accessibility and efficiency in the judicial process, incidents like this underline the need for stronger safeguards, stricter authentication and better moderation controls.
The court administration is expected to review and tighten security protocols to prevent such disruptions in future proceedings.
In digital courtrooms, access is easy, but without control, even a small breach can disrupt the entire system.
