Do We Need Bullet Trains When the Existing Trains Are Not Safe?

Yet another Train accident happened in the country and this time in Andhra Pradesh. Modi government since the day it came to power is talking about radical reforms in the Railways but then these accidents are happening frequently. Modi government is making tall claims of bringing Bullet trains and Talgo to the country.

Modi government has embarked on the Bullet Train Project with a whopping 90000 Crore. While there is nothing wrong in being ambitious, it is a big question why such mega project when the government has no funds to ensure the safety of the existing trains.

To be ruthless and blunt, Talgo and Bullet Trains are what we will concentrate because they are the ones that will bring us the publicity which the politicians will crave for. And obviously, politicians will see no benefits in ensuring safety in existing trains.

Every year, we just see the Train fares increasing but then there is no guarantee that the money will instill confidence in the people boarding the trains that they will reach their destinations safely. It will come only when Politicians thinks as leaders!
