ED to Take Over Rahul, Sonia Gandhi’s Properties

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is all set to take over Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi properties in the National Herald case. The ED gave notices to property registrars in Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow on Friday.

The properties were bought from Associate Journal Limited through Young Indian Company managed by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. It was found that Rahul and Sonia got AJL’s over Rs 2000 crore property for just Rs 50 lakh through Young Indian Company.

On Saturday, the ED issued notices to take over the Rs 661 crore property seized in the money laundering case regarding AJL, which was under Congress’ control.

Delhi’s Herald House in ITO, property in Mumbai’s Bandra area and Lucknow’s Biseswarnath Road AJL office must be vacated, the ED said in the notices.

The ED took over the properties as per money laundering prevention act (PMLA). The ED also found that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had the majority shares in Young Indian Company, about 38% each.

The case was filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in 2014. The ED’s probe formally began in 2021.
