Eenadu carried a scary story today saying that the cost of Polavaram concrete works shot up by six times thanks to the Jagan Government’s thoughtless move called Reverse Tendering. Here is what the story tells.
“Polavaram works were completed 72% by the time the Chandrababu Naidu government stepped down. Jagan Mohan Reddy went to reverse tendering even though the Central Government warned against doing that saying that the project would be delayed.
The Central Government even warned that it will not give a penny if the cost is escalated. But Jagan did not care.
He went to reverse-tendering for concrete works worth 1771 Crore and Megha bagged them for 1,556 Crore. Jagan Government made tall claims of saving 215 Crore.
The change resulted in missing the completion date of November 2021.
Now, it is learned that the cost escalated to 9,700 Crore i.e., six times the original value. The government is trying to hide this escalation from the public. To minimize the cost, the government is trying to reduce the water storage which will limit the project purpose”.
Now, the Central Government will not give this money and only freebies-focused Jagan Government will never do that. And subsequent governments and the public should pay the price.
