Ex-Minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s cabinet Pitani Satya Narayana joined Telugu Desam Party a short while ago. He is representing Achanta from West Godavari district. He worked as Aarogya Sri Minister and resigned from Congress opposing the state bifurcation. He was a strong supporter of Kiran Kumar Reddy and is also one of the founder members of Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Jai Samayikya Andhra party. However, there is a strong pressure from his supporters to join TDP and Pitani had to abide.
Speaking on this occasion, “I feel Chandra Babu and Telugu Desam Party are the only ones who can make Seema Andhra a progressive state. I do not think KKR’s party will work now only a party (TDP) capable of state development is useful”. Pitani represents Setti Balija, one of the powerful caste of BCs in West Godavari region. Analysts believe his inclusion will improve Telugu Desam Party’s prospects in the region. Pitani may contest to Achanta or Narasapuram or Tanuku constituencies in the coming elections.
