FB Friend Request Costs Hyd Woman Rs 1.5 Cr

In a shocking development, a Hyderabad woman ended up losing a whopping Rs 1.5 crore as she fell prey to a cyber scam orchestrated by a group of fraudsters.

The group sent an unnamed woman from Hyderabad a friend request on FaceBook and they kept texting her continually.

After a point, the cyber fraud group started demanding that woman a lumpsum amount of money, saying they’re sending her a gift from London. They said the woman that the customs department is holding the costly gift at the airport and they will have to be paid a token fee to clear the same and get it delivered.

The woman kept depositing some money gradually and she ended up giving over Rs 1.5 crore in total. After realizing the mistake, she approached the police. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
