Fadnavis Ratifies Naidu’s Brilliance

Maharashtra state cabinet had approved the land pooling model similar to that of Andhra Pradesh Land Pooling Scheme for Amaravati to fulfill chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ dream of connecting his home town Nagpur with the financial capital Mumbai through a Super Expressway. The project in in doldrums due to huge land acquisition costs involved.

The project’s implementing agency, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), had studied the Andhra Pradesh model of land pooling, and finalized that it is the best and the only way to clear land hurdles for the project. Besides this project, there is another project in Maharashtra for which land pooling scheme is going to be used.

Maharashtra government is planning a highways project of 700 kilometers long. They are planning to develop a parallel express way from Mumbai to Pune to the already existing express way. Fadnavis is of the opinion that this project can not be executed under the current Land Acquisition Act due to high costs involved and so is keen on implementing Amaravati kind of Land Pooling there also.
