
This software Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will have the access of the live feed of CCTV cameras. The software would pick up registration numbers of vehicles at every junction and match them. If the system recognises two vehicles at different junctions at the same time carrying the same registration number, the Police will be alerted and the vehicles will be seized.
The accuracy of this software is said to be around 90%. It is already being used in Delhi and Kerala for identification of fake registration numbers. Hyderabad Police are planning to implement it in the city in the next three months.
