Farmers Removing ‘Jagan’ Stones!

After CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu repealed the Land Titling Act, some farmers in the Krishna district are removing the markers from the YS Jagan land protection survey laid by the previous YSRCP government. The Land Titling Act was one of the reasons for the defeat of the YSRCP.

A month before the elections, the YSRCP government, under the guise of a digital survey, surveyed four thousand acres in the mandal without consulting the farmers and laid markers in the fields. The revenue officials placed these markers, which featured Jagan’s photo, without informing the farmers.

This action has led to new conflicts between farmers due to the placement of markers that disregarded previous boundaries. For instance, in Kummamuru village, the flawed nature of the survey was highlighted by the fact that three survey markers were laid at the same spot in a field.

Initially, the farmers did not dare to remove the markers laid by the authorities. However, after the TDP coalition government took charge and Chandrababu became CM, signing to abolish the land titling law, the farmers gained the courage to act. Now, with a favorable government in place, farmers have started removing the survey markers.
