Files of Gandhi Assassination Case Missing

National Archives of India (NAI) on an RTI Query revealed that there is no comprehensive record of Gandhi files compiled at one place on the assassination of Gandhi. It is also revealed that the copy of final charge-sheet in Gandhi murder and order of execution of accused number one, Nathuram Godse case are missing from the record.

Three persons accused of Gandhi’s assassination – Gangadhar Dahawate, Surya Dev Sharma and Gangadhar Yadav were absconding since then. There are no records to show whether any efforts were made to apprehend them or if the criminal case against them was closed.

There is also a lot of confusion about the death of Subash Chandra Bose. Narendra Modi government promised the declassification of some secret files and documents and already did some. All this implies that there is no transparency in the country about the history of the national heroes.
